The astonishing difference between Sex and Eros
Sex and Eros, although used interchangeably in common speech, actually designate two radically different processes, based on very distinct energies and produce results that are in most cases opposite to each other.
Sexual energy
Sexual energy has a low and dense vibration, being in connection with the function of reproduction – the preserving of the species by multiplication on the biological level. But the same sexual energy is the basis for the creative potential of the human being.
When it is not used with a creative purpose, when it is not ennobled into a fuel for transformation by the energy of Eros and Love, due to its intrinsic downward orientation its manifestation will degenerate into a “sexual attitude” to life. In such cases the human being will be more and more focused on obtaining pleasure by any means. And this is the surest path to sufferance.
In a relationship this attitude reduces the other to a mere object meant to satisfy selfish desires and strange sexual fantasies. It can easily lead to sexual dependence, obsessions, pathological desires, even psychic diseases.
It’s not that sexual energy is something bad or harmful, it’s not that it must be rejected or ignored; it has to be oriented in the right direction, by transforming it and using its creative potential in different areas of our life.
Erotic energy
Erotic energy vibrates on the highest and purest divine frequency; that’s why it naturally amalgamates with the energy of sublime, divine love. Its manifestation is always accompanied by playfulness, harmony, truth and beauty. It nurtures the upper, the more subtle parts of our being with life power; it fills our soul with enthusiasm and increases spontaneity and inner freedom.
Because of its intrinsic upward orientation, it guides our attention to the higher values in life than just material interests or social success; it awakens the aspiration to attain noble, even spiritual ideals.
Where sex can never arrive
Sex only produces separation, because it chains together two prisoners – two isolated egos. Love is experienced as the state of deep communion of souls. Eros is the ladder that connect these two. Its lower end is fixed into the soil of sexuality, its upper end reaches up to the highest skies of love.
Without this magic ladder, the human being would remain trapped forever in the water-pit of sex. It is the power of Eros that awakens in us the sublime erotic desire for elevation and union – born from the memory of the primordial Oneness that we keep in the cells of our subtle bodies.
It is the upward oriented vector of Eros that guides our eyes and desires to the source of love and happiness; it is Eros that helps the soul to get out from the prison of the ego and rise to paradisiacal realms, where its true dwelling place is, and where, with our ego we will never have access.
Recognize the difference
The manifestation of sexual energy causes tension in the body, contraction of the muscles, shrinking of the field of our consciousness; it leads to discharge of the sexual fluids and waste of the energies. This manifests as tiredness and exhaustion after the sexual interaction.
Erotic energy on the contrary, is always accompanied by a state of relaxation; it leads to the expansion of the consciousness, charges us with energy, enthusiasm, joy, happiness – that can last for days on end after an amorous fusion with sexual continence.
Sexual energy, being strictly related to the biological potential; is directly influenced by limitations of the physical body. With old age it diminishes and disappears almost completely. (Menopause, andropause)
Erotic energy is a reality of much higher hierarchy, so it is completely free of the limitations of the physical body. It can manifest at any age, from before sexual awakening of the child until very old age.
“Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.”
Space-shuttle to Paradise
The abundant manifestation of erotic energy in the amorous fusion sacralises the act itself and gives the right orientation to the sexual energy.
Cultivating the erotic attitude in a love relationship, amplifies the capacity to offer and to receive love and creates the necessary space for a deep and blissful communion of love on the soul level. Its predominantly empathic and transfiguring vision can easily awaken the Divine aspect in both lovers.
Man fell from Eden because of the separation through sex and can return to the plenitude and unity in the Kingdom of God following the aspiration for union experienced as erotic desire. And through the joined forces of Divine Eros and Sublime Love the human being can live his life in a state of sacredness and has direct access to spiritual immortality.
